Aid for Artsakh: how can you contribute?

It's no wonder that Artsakh requires aid today more than ever. Many of its territories have been damaged as a result of the 2020 war, and many people require support.

Since 2020, life in Stepanakert has not been the same, and there are several efforts to help Artsakh. Many organizations in Armenia have stepped forward to assist generate finances for Artsakh and its people in order to reduce the sufferings of those impacted by the war. Foundations and groups have joined together to build houses; one such example is "100 Houses in Artsakh." Other organizations, such as Himnadram, AGBU, and the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF), have made significant contributions to assisting Artsakh and Armenians. However, in addition to these large organizations, there are smaller groups with outstanding ideas for supporting education in the region and laying the groundwork for educational progress - which is essential to a country’s overall development.

One of those is a team of “Matemik” NGO - a group initiated in 2012,  providing non-formal education in mathematics, programming and some other topics to the children in Lori region. Following the Artsakh war and the current global issues with Covid-19, the team chose to begin a more serious and flexible employment in Artsakh. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances in Artsakh, many children, particularly those living close to the borders, do not have access to education.

More than 120 children between the ages of 12 and 16 who reside in Artsakh are currently participants of the initiative. The courses are planned by 60 experienced teachers who volunteer in the following subjects: Armenian, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Russian, and Armenian World History. Despite the fact that the experienced teachers volunteer their time, the team still lacks resources. The company hopes to enlist your assistance in order to increase the project's efficiency, incorporate more students, and provide them the opportunity to be a part of this effort. The company is prepared to enlist more volunteers from their side in order to assist the program.

Education is the most valuable asset someone can have. The appropriate education of a nation's youth is its major hope. As a result, we must support efforts that are willingly attempting to assist Armenian children in receiving the education they deserve.
