The book is about girls orphans in American orphanages in Alexandrapol; Polygon, Seversky and Kazachi Post. Female descendants of the orphans told the real life stories of their mothers and grandmothers. The stories are complemented with archival documents acquired from the National Archives of Armenia to have the full picture of the incredible job that Near East Relief with American people did for Armenian orphans in Alexandrapol orphanages and refugees between 1919 and 1931.
I started finding, interviewing orphan descendants in 2020. I am a descendant of an orphan girl myself. My grandparents grew up in Polygon in Alexandrapol. I have collected the stories mainly from the descendants living in Gyumri, Yerevan, Argentina, France, and Russia, USA. I have been working with the archival documents since 2020.
