Almost ten years ago, my mom was diagnosed with advanced neuroendocrine tumors, a rare type of cancer that starts in specialized cells called neuroendocrine cells. These tumors can develop anywhere in the body; for my mom, they are located in her intestine, liver, and stomach.
The only treatment available to manage her condition was a hormone injection called Sandostatin Lar, administered monthly. Despite the challenging circumstances, my mom and dad chose to stay in Syria during the war to continue receiving this expensive medication, which cost $1,000 per injection at the time but was covered by the government.
Four years ago, the Syrian government stopped providing the medication due to sanctions. With the help of NGOs, we managed to get the medication from Lebanon. Unfortunately, the economic crisis in Lebanon over the past two years has made the medication unavailable there. NGOs in Syria then sourced it from Turkey, but it turned out to be ineffective. As a result, my mom's condition worsened significantly. The tumors grew, and she lost over 40 kilos. 
In an effort to find an effective treatment, she began taking an additional medication covered by the government. Fortunately, I managed to bring the Sandostatin Lar Injection a couple of times from Georgia and now from Turkey (manufactured in Austria). 
For the past few months, I have been covering the costs myself, but I have now exhausted my savings. That's why I have no option other than to rely on the compassion of those who can help.
The cost of Sandostatin Lar Hormone Injection ranges from $300 to $500 per month, depending on the country of purchase. My goal is to raise $6,000 to ensure my mom can receive her medication for the next 12 months. With a 15% processing fee, the total amount needed is $6,900.
