Talin Dolls Handicraft Project for Women
Campaign viewed 3547 times
Talin Women's Resource Center Development Foundation (TWRCF)
Since 2012 TWRCF has been empowering women and the local communities in and around Talin, Armenia to become economically secure, independent, flourishing, just, sustainable, and proud of our diverse and beautiful culture. To accomplish this, we have created a number of amazing projects.
One of these projects is Talin Dolls. We have set up a profitable production and distribution network by establishing relationships with souvenir and traditional handicraft dealers across Armenia and training the local women to create exquisitely hand-crocheted dolls with traditional Armenian garments representing Moush, Zeytoun, Sebastia, Yerevan, Artsakh, and other regions of Eastern and Western Armenia. The women receive a share of the profits while another portion is used to finance the rehabilitation center for the children with disabilities (special needs). This amazing resource center identifies children with disabilities, assesses their needs, offers them physiotherapy, and provides training and information for parents and medical staff. We also link families who have children with disabilities to form local support networks, so that they can assist one another, share skills/information, and be able to provide more effective advocacy for their children with special needs. TWRC has also established carpet weaving workshops and exhibitions to display the beautiful rugs created by the families of this vulnerable population.
We are asking you to help us expand our already successful venture. The demand for Talin dolls has exceeded the supply! This is a great problem to have, and we need your help to be able to expand our program to more women, families, and communities. We need your financial assistance to:
- Recruit, train and provide support for women and young people in our region who are interested in creating handicrafts. Women will crochet and sew. Young people will work on our wood cutting and engraving laser machine.
- Make samples for our new baby collection that will include clothes made of fabric, crocheted toys or garments and wooden toys;
- Expand the three lines of our production that are crochet, sewing and
- Purchase a car to deliver supplies and collect the finished products.
- Purchase supplies in greater bulk to meet the increasing demand and to decrease material costs.
- Deliver our products to distributors and exhibitions outside of our area.
In gratitude for your assistance, for your generous gift of:
$20, we will send you a handmade key chain
$50, we will send you a handmade key chain and apron made of fabric with Armenian symbols or letters
